Country you live in now Canadian immigration is decided partly by where you are now, and it tells us which office and which timelines apply to you. Province or state Several provinces run their own programmes with their own, often easier, requirements. Telling us where you are is how we find the ones open to you. Nationality (your passport) Your passport decides visa requirements, processing times and some programme eligibility. It is the single fact that changes the most.
